Thank you for visiting the Piedmont Agency on Aging website.  We have been providing services to seniors in Greenwood and Abbeville counties since 1971 which helps preserve their independence and dignity.  We rely heavily on volunteers and donors to be successful so I urge you to get involved and make a difference today!

In response to the current economic downturn, staff at PAOA, like other businesses and organizations are hunkering down and preparing for the impact of the country’s recession on programs like Meals on Wheels.  Our staff is aggressively streamlining costs and using a frugal approach in all decisions.  That is our usual mindset, but the current recession is requiring an even greater effort for more streamlining.  We are facing real challenges this year and we’re working very hard to be smarter and more efficient with our resources.

Here are a few opportunities how you can assist the agency:

· Volunteer at your local Senior Center to deliver a Meals on Wheels route.  It only takes 45 minutes to and hour one day a week.  Volunteers have a direct impact on our delivery cost, plus they receive the immediate benefit of helping someone in need.  Call 223-2233 in Greenwood County or 366-9666 in Abbeville County for more information on how to volunteer.

· Give a tax-deductible donation to Piedmont Agency on Aging, P.O. Box 997, Greenwood, SC 29648
·Donate your church van or vehicle so seniors can be transported to medical appointments, dialysis treatment, grocery store or to nutrition sites for a daily meal.  Call Ed Hanvey at 223-0164, ext. 225.
